Foound

"This is not checking in, because frankly, why do you want to check-in alone when you can start hanging out with friends on Foound. - Danny Tan"

I like the closing by Danny, the founder of Foound.

If you look closely on the existing applications, like 4□.. which does nothing in bring people together, or solving existing real-world problems. They are just new play-toys which (most) people try and forget about. Of course there are still many out there who uses these apps. But personally, me and the tech friends around me has stopped playing with FourSquare after few weeks of testing. Ok, this is not my main point of this article. Read more on this topic at newsweek.

What attracted my attention to Foound is it's idea of solving problems that we all face everyday - Trying to organize a gathering.

Is there any existing solution? Yes, there are... Facebook event? Google Calendar? But they don't help you link up with your friends who is not those platform.

I think what fundamentally makes Foound a useful app is that

  • It helps answer basic info that people will want to know about a hang-out
    • When,
    • where,
    • who is going...
  • It helps bridge people from different platform
    • Facebook,
    • email,
    • sms...

Was talking to Danny few weeks back at Tertiary Tech Conference (TTC), and asked him about Foound for Windows Phone 7/Mobile and Android. He said the team has plans for Android, but not Windows at the moment.

Can't wait for the Android app!

Heres another media interview video.

p/s: I think start-up ideas should be something like this, solving existing real world problem instead of introducing new options to the world.

Connectify - Device couldn't obtain IP address [Solution]

Was trying to connect my i9000 Galaxy S to laptop. Apparently Android doesn't support internet connection sharing from PC side, i.e. sharing PC connection to phone, not tethering. And the phone can't detect Ad-Hoc connection.

After Google-ed for a while, I found "Connectify" (version 2.0.x).

Downloaded and installed the latest stable version, but later found out that devices couldn't connect to the Wireless network, i.e Couldn't optain IP address.

There are 2 work-around for this.
1. Turn off Windows Firewall. (Not recommended).

2. Download the latest Beta (version 2.1 Beta 4) from http://connectify.blogspot.com/.

Hope it helps some of you out there too! :)

Who is the Most Compatible Celebrity Couple?

The Most Compatible Celebrity Couple!

Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung

Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung was married in a secret wedding ceremony in the Philippines in September 2006.

After Edison Chen's photo incident (Jan 2008), a lot rumors speculated that the couple would breakup and Nicholas Tse is determined to file for a divorce.

Despite all the rumors, the couple was able to hold on to each other and made it through. And they had their second child May this year.

Below is the video of an interview Cecilia Cheung after the incident.

And Nicholas's response to the incident.
"From my point of view, this is just an experience, past experience, that happened in my life or my family. My family is very happy now. Cecilia and I entered entertainment arena since 10 years old, and endured until now before we get married. God has given us a healthy son, and both of us are healthy too. These for me has been the most blessed. "
Its is good to have your loved ones protect and support you when you are at the lowest point of your life. And I think Nicholas did that.

These some of the photos of Nicholas and Cecilia, which I got from the internet.

The couple was spotted at Central Hong Kong having tea time together.
The eldest son, Lucas, born in 2 Aug, 2007.
Cecilia Cheung hugging the second child, Quintus, born in 12 May, 2010.

Its not easy to be a celebrity, with all the lenses on you 24/7, trying to catch unglamorous photos and your private life. And its even harder to become a celebrity couple. People will try their best to uncover your history, to create news, and gossips.

Certainly take a lot of chemistry for them (Nicholas and Cecilia) to be together. Therefore I think they are the most compatible celebrity couple.

(Banned) TV3 Hari Raya Commercial 2010

This is the Raya Commercial (by TV3) that was taken down just few days after aired. Apparently this commercial became highly controversial, and a lot people protested and demanded TV3 to apologize.

So disappointed that there are still so many narrow minded Malaysian.

Religion suppose to be something that can open our mind, let live in a harmonious environment with one another.

This reminds me of another Youtube video that I watched the other day, by Hishamuddin Rais. He talks about Malaysia's problem - the nature of its politic that make use of races and religion to gain support from the people.

Many critical points which I think people, especially Malaysian should know about. All these points has been raised frequently by other sociologists too.

One Malaysia - must start from addressing the root of all problem - Political structure.

(Raya) Gathering

Spent this year's Raya with rag (KRhome) friends at CCK - Kam and Hoongsoon's place. We gathered around noon to buy foods from from nearby Fair Price, and cook steamboat for lunch+dinner. Super full, because all the food cost near $200. Oh, after that still got ice-cream as dessert.

Glad to meet up with all of them to catch up with one another.

Special thanks to Hoongsoon for subsidizing, and because our conversation topic for the day :)

Comments:
Personally, I would recommend to use gVoice to call if you are on (unlimited) data plan, and Rebtel if you are not on any data plan. Do note that, local mobile operator's call rate is applied for certain countries for Rebtel.

Pointless Comments

Got this from twitter.com/Office.

The picture speaks everything that I wanted to say about people who makes pointless comments on the net. :) Oh, I particularly hate those who makes pointless comments in FORUMs... seriously no point in showing off how stupid they are.
