Say No To #Emel1Malaysia

Source: http://malaysiakini.com/news/162466

‎- Project email 1Malaysia will continue with 5.4 million users by end of this year.
- Government Agencies will be charged RM0.50 for each email sent to users.
- Users will be charged for extra services like "more secure" with 'encryption".
- Every email will be charged.
- Users will be charged for document storage.

That means Government will be charged for RM2.8 million for every time they send out emails to public. That's people's tax money!

That means public will be charged for sending email & email security.

Wah, what era is this? This is a open+forced scam/robbery.

Plan

It a long weekend, glad that I actually came up to KL to meet relatives and also YC's family.

Stayed at YC's house yesterday night, and had the chance to talk to YC's father. The conversations wasn't long ones, and it wasn't anything philosophical, neither questions about my plan in life. Its just about what he do nowadays. Simple yet realistic. It definitely changed my perspective about a 10 year business/investment plan. And it definitely refreshed my memory on a lot of aspect in life.

Maybe stayed in Sg too long without going anywhere, and and the daily routine working life has limited my mindset about business opportunities. Always thought Sg has more opportunity and My is very unstable/chaotic - hence Sg has more opportunities. But but if you look further, a long term plan, actually My has equal opportunities as well.

Theres a lot of types of investments. All of them are good, its just whether the ROI is what we want.

Just random thoughts.

1Malaysia Email

RT @limkitsiang: "My daughter has own email @12. Conduct simple survey Najib will know 99.9% youth 18+ already have own email a/c. Y waste RM50m?" blog LKS http://bit.ly/h3wKei

RT @NajibRazak: Before I sleep , let me clarify that the 1Malaysia E Mail is a private sector project. No public money is involved n entirely voluntary. http://bit.ly/gyTFTJ

There are just too many questionable problems behind this project.

1. Whats the rational behind the 1Malaysia Email project?
Why we need this additional to Email to receive notification from Gov when we can have free and secure email from other provider like Gmail/Hotmail?

2. Even Hotmail (14 years) can't filter spam properly. If we were to receive Gov notification through this email account, is it secure enough?

3. Tricubes, the company behind this project is facing delisting from Bursa Saham. http://bit.ly/dIf3ls Will it be capable enough to lead this MEGA project?

Wonder will this be another junk project? Most importantly security-concern project.

古晋新的开始

http://opinions.sinchew-i.com/node/18986

Maybank2u Email Scam

Been receiving Maybank scam email with the following details lately:
Subject: ALERT - M2u Account Notice
From: Maybank2u <m2u@maybank2u.com.my>

or

From: Maybank2u <ib@maybank2u.com.my>

Below are some of the steps you can check to make sure the email you receive is from trusted source. (I've also blogged about how to quickly check email source previously here.)

Check the "Message Source"

1. Click the "arrow" beside reply button in Hotmail, then select "View Message Source".

Check the link and "Message Source".

2. Then check the email source. There will be several "Received: " field. Check for the last field, the one just before "Message-id: " field.

The sender is not from "maybank2u.com", its from "euclid-tech.com.tw"!

Actually, I'm surprised that the email got thru Hotmail Scam/Phising filter. This kind of email should be very easy to be identified as spam by the message header.

Update (2) : Hall Command

This is a quick update for the events / happenings for the past week.

#nuskr Hall/Block Command

Time flies, its been a year already since I commanded last year. Attend both command for Hall and Block. Its good to see the FYFs are still so committed to the Hall.

"A Block" - The Block that I stayed for past 4+1 years.

The performance this year was creative. I like this the most! Titled "Stomp". Too bad the clip is just the beginning of the performance.

Some other performances.

Heard of bad gossips about some of them who put in little effort for the whole show, or quit half way.
Still thinks my batch was the best, in the sense people are more bonded, and willing to put in more effort for the Hall. :) Haha

Update (1) : Facebook

Went through my second interview for Facebook 8am this morning. The first interview was on 2nd April, 12am.

Interview 1

The call was from FB technical recruiter and its a background info + little bit of technical interview call. The technical questions are mostly on Data Structure and Algorithm questions.

Interview 2

The call was from FB product engineer. Its a problem solving technical call where the interviewer will describe the problem and I was asked to logon to a website to do the coding there.
My interviewer was the engineer that works on FB chat. And he was with Microsoft for the past 12 years! A very experienced guy.

This is my first time on a call-interview (the last call interview was Bloomberg, but I did the call at the HQ here in Singapore). Its a very unique experience - coding online directly with the interviewer. :)

Pray for me. Hope I can still go thru the coming 3 rounds of interview :)
