Updates

Just came back from work around 12am just now. Ah, can't believe I spent so much time on debugging the Magento website. So unproductive... zzz... Tired. Tomorrow I mustn't be so unfocused again!

YC went back KL today. Ah... another 1+ week before I can meet her again. Hopefully during CNY can follow aunt go KL, then go her house bai nian.

Initially planned to go back Kch for CNY. But in the end, because couldn't change the flight from KL to depart from JB instead, decided to cancel off the trip. If not, will be damn troublesome to travel Sg-JB-KL-Kch, then Kch-KL-JB-Sg...

Wanted to do my own Android apps since last year. But until today, the idea still in my incubator folder... seriously need to push myself to do. Squeeze more time for it. Definitely gonna have a hackaton this weekend!

Untitled

Have a friend whos parent complained that she spend too little time at home compared to school.

Have another friend whos sister bluff her parents that she need a DSLR for school work.

What happened to this world? The parents become so childish and the kids become so shameless?

As parent, I think they should let their children off to explore the world. Especially when they are in university level. How can you ground them at home with you to "enjoy life" with you when they are suppose to go out there to fight. The parents have seen enough of the world, not their child. Plus, their world and their childs' are completely different.

As a child, I think we should always help our parents by putting our selves in their shoes. Children nowadays are very spoilt. Alot of them always spend unnecessary money just to show off to their friends. Clubbing, drinking, or even worse, gambling.
But, I guess its the parents who failed to educated them properly since young.

Don't know what these people thinking...

Life can only be understood backwards

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
Soren_Kierkegaard (1813-1855)

Reminds me of Steve Jobs speech during 2005 Stanford Commencement.
You can only connect the dots by looking backwards.

A lot of times, I can't comprehend fully the purpose behind the things I do daily. Why must I continue on to do daily chores that aren't going to bring any changes to the world and knowing the fact that we are all going to die anyway someday.

But, these quotes reminds me that, someday, when we look backwards, we will understand the significance of  those little-little-things-that-we-do-everyday.

20110115 Kukup Trip

Date: 15-16 Jan 2011

Went on a 2D1N trip to the fishing village at Kukup, Johor, Malaysia, with fellow (ex-)Raggers.

Total spent: about RM130/pax.
  • RM90/pax package which includes accommodation + main meals + . (You can refer to the package details here, and the list of activities here).
  • RM5.40 for the bus ticket to bus station at Jalan Pantai, Pontian, then another RM2.90 bus ride to Kukup.
  • RM80 per taxi ride back to City Square, Johor Bahru.

1300 - Lunch at Seafood restaurant.
1430 - Take taxi back to City Square, Johor Bahru.

Comments:
  • Its a very, very, relaxing trip.
  • Theres nothing much to see in this small fishing village (approx 200 houses, according to the tour guide), but its definitely a good place to enjoy your time with friends.
  • One thing to note is that, the village is not really that clean. So for those over clean-conscious people, this might be an issue.

Food/Snack to note:
  • 菜燕糕。

Things to note:
  • "Pistol fish" at "Kelong" (Fish Farm), very interesting.

Pin Twitter to Windows 7 Taskbar using IE 9

Found my self using IE9 more and more frequent each day.

Just pinned Twitter to my Windows 7 Taskbar a while a go. See what I can do when right-clicking taskbar -
  1. create new tweet,
  2. jump straight to mention page...
 Pretty cool, right?

To do this, you'll need Internet Explorer 9.

Then just drag the site favicon to the taskbar.

Just wait for a while, the functions will be loaded. ;)

Updates

Work

Followed Samuel to Sim Lim Square after work today. We went to Teknet to discuss about server upgrade for the company.

After that, while waiting for his gf to arrive, we sat down at coffee shop, and he explained his plan for the coming weeks + coming months in terms of the server upgrade.

Basically the very very rough idea is to do a overall hardware upgrade and adopt virtualization + NAS for the server architecture. All these are to prepare for the plans for the coming months.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new hardware and start configuring and putting the systems together.

p/s: bought a 8GB SanDisk thumb drive for S$15 just before coming back just now.

Dinner

As usual, YC cooked dinner for me :) Today its 炒饭+咸饭+杂菜饭 then + another egg.

Oh, yesterday was mi hun kuey 面粉糕.

Hmm, her 厨艺 really improved a lot. Hehe.

我还真有口福。 :p
