Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (Singapore) DXJPA (Froyo) ROM is out!

Yeap! For all Southeast Asia Galaxy S users, upgrade your firmware to Android 2.2 Froyo now! :)

Before you upgrade,
  1. Backup all your important data, e.g. Contacts, Memo, although your data will stay intact with Kies upgrade. Just precaution.

This is what you can do to upgrade to Froyo using Kies:
  1. (Important!) If you installed any Lag fix before, e.g. "OneClickLagFix 2+", undo them.
  2. (Optional) Get the 3 buttons DOWNLOAD MODE working.
  3. (Important!) Update to the latest Samsung Kies, refer to my post here.
  4. Install and run Kies.
  5. Follow the steps in the Upgrade wizard. The process takes about 5 minutes.
  6. Done!
If you prefer to flash manually using ODIN, download the firmware from this thread, and follow this post

If you unsure or whether to upgrade or not, these are the few advantages you'll get:
  1. (So far) No more lag that you experienced in Eclair 2.1.
  2. Added "sensor aiding" (to enhance positioning and save power using sensors) in Location settings.
    • Basically means better+Faster GPS support compared to Eclair 2.1.
  3. Able to use Froyo 2.2+ applications.
    1. Chrome-to-phone extension in Google Chrome. (Not available in Sg yet).
    2. updated Gmail App for Froyo 2.2.

Crystal 超浪漫求婚

Still very sweet, although it looks like a Samsung advertisement :)

For those who can't tell:
  • The girl is using Samsung Galaxy S.
  • The guy is using Samsung Galaxy Tab.
If its really Samsung adv, I would say its a great strategy though, makes me digg out more info on Galaxy Tab.

The size of Samsung Galaxy Tab is just nice to hold using one hand - 7 inch ; As compared to 10 inch iPad, which is slightly big to hold using one hand.

And... its Android powered! :)

"...we can confidently say it's the best Android tablet on the market." - enGadget.
Read more about Galaxy Tab review at enGadget. The review is very throughout.

This is the official video from Samsung.

Nice, maybe will get one when I can afford. hahaha.

Connectify - Device couldn't obtain IP address [Solution]

Was trying to connect my i9000 Galaxy S to laptop. Apparently Android doesn't support internet connection sharing from PC side, i.e. sharing PC connection to phone, not tethering. And the phone can't detect Ad-Hoc connection.

After Google-ed for a while, I found "Connectify" (version 2.0.x).

Downloaded and installed the latest stable version, but later found out that devices couldn't connect to the Wireless network, i.e Couldn't optain IP address.

There are 2 work-around for this.
1. Turn off Windows Firewall. (Not recommended).

2. Download the latest Beta (version 2.1 Beta 4) from http://connectify.blogspot.com/.

Hope it helps some of you out there too! :)
