Life in Singapore

Well, this is my first post in Singapore!

Life here still okay. Manage to 'accept' the currency rate difference between Malaysia and Singapore. Ha. The exchange rate now is around 2.33. So, I'll remind myself to times 2.33 to all the price of things, food especially, here.

I'm staying in A-Block Kent Ridge Hall for this academic year. (Don't ask me why it is call "A-block" instead of "Block A", it is a rule here to differentiate KR from Sheares Hall located just beside.) What can I say about KR? It's one of the newest hostel in NUS. There are 5 blocks all together in KR: A , B, C , D, and E. The facilities are all in perfect condition. I'm very satisfied with the room I'm currently staying in. The hostel is almost like a hotel if you ask me. There is a kitchen in every floor. Same goes to toilet of course. Male and females are seperated by alternate floors. (Arggh, too bad I still havnt got my computer yet, cannot upload photos from my handphone.) In the main building (Admin block), theres a Multi Purpose Sports Hall (MPSH), a Music Room, a Dance Room, a Computer Room (which I'm in now), and there are few more restricted area, which freshies like me cannot go to.

Semester starts 7th August. Orientation starts next week. You might be wondering why I came here so early. Actually there are a lot of activities going on before school starts. But, the most crucial reason I came here early is for the Qualifying English Test (QET). So, basically after the QET, I'm free to do whatever I want. Either find activities to join or just stay in room and stares a the wall or sleep. Nobody will bother you.

Well, I joined KR Hall RAG team to fill up my free time these few days. RAG is the float decoration thing. Its a big event in NUS. Basically RAGgers will stay up at night to decorate the float. They start working from "3-6", don't misunderstand, it is 3 pm to 6 am. COOL eh? Haha. Well, since I'm a freshie and non-ragger, I don't need to stay up so long to do the rag thing. I can go whenever I want. But usually I go at night, around 9pm to 4am. (Arggh, too bad I still havnt got my computer yet, cannot upload photos from my handphone.) Haha.

People here are all very talented. Most of them under Scholarships. Sometimes feels like 'nothing' compare to them. Talented as in Music (Grade 8... blah blah blah), Dance, Academic, Sports, EVERYTHING! Seriously! Very different from the 'nothing' I felt back in secondary school.

Well, got few friends that I 'stick to' in KR. Haha. Phang Swee King, from PJ; Wan Ru from PJ; Annabelle Low (studied in ACJc, think so, forget), a Malaysian but stayed in Hong Kong; Tan Shin Fei from KL (studied in TJc), Adrianas from Jc also (Indonesian) and few more Chinese from China. Actually not all freshies are here. Some of them still have not check-in yet. They will check-in tomorrow I guess.

Life style here is totally different that Local Uni back there. You can do whatever you want whenever you like. For example, they are people jogging 2am early in the morning. No kidding, I saw it myself in the middle of the night. And... you can wear whatever you like to classes, of course not too exaggerating lar... where as in local Uni, we need to wear until very formal to attain classes, well thats what I know for UPM Engineering faculty. Haha.

Well, thats all I guess. Will blog again next time. Hopefully I can get my laptop by then. GRRR! So sien... Haha.

Btw, my address is as below. Feel free to mail me, doubt you would. Ha.

All Packed. Go!

My luggages.

Yeah! Going Singapore today! Taking MAS flight at 0915 to Johor with Khee Han. Then we will take bus to Singapore, then to NUS!

Looking forward to this trip. Heard people say its very kelam kabut at Malaysia Kastam there. Haha. At least now got the chance to witness myself the condition there ;)

Erm, this is my second (or third) time to Singapore... 可悲 leh... Haha.

Guess will not be able to update blog for the first few weeks at NUS until I get my laptop. Hehe. Since I 'upgraded' my phone memory from 32MB to 1GB, guess I can update more with photos of NUS and Singapore next time!

Just wait! Can't wait! Haha.

Life and Seesaw

Life & Seesaw
Technorati Tags: , ,

Life is like playing seesaw.

You can never play alone.

You can never balance yourself at the center point.

You can only know how high you can go
when you start to fall.

You will hit the ground with a bump sometimes,
but you know that you will raise again after the hit.

I guess this is how fun and interesting playing seesaw is.

Zinedine Zidane

Zidane again~
Final blow! The Winner - Zidane!

Guess everyone is very curious about the "Headbutt" incident. Haha.
Heres the explaination from Zidane , France Captain, which I got it from BBC Sport website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_cup_2006/teams/france/5174758.stm

*^ ^*
Zidane during BBC interview.

Interviewer: You know the Italian players well because you played in Italy for five years. Did you have any problem with any of them beforehand?

Zinedine Zidane: Not at all. You always have friction with certain players...that is the game, it has always been like that. But I never had any clashes with anyone.

Interviewer: Nor Materazzi?

Zinedine Zidane: No, never. There was nothing beforehand and nothing in the match until he started pulling my jersey.

He grabbed my shirt and I told him to stop. I told him if he wanted I'd swap it with him at the end of the match.

That is when he said some very hard words, which were harder than gestures. He repeated them several times. It all happened very quickly and he spoke about things which hurt me deep down.

Interviewer: Everyone wants to know exactly what he said...

Zinedine Zidane: They were very serious things, very personal things.

Interviewer: About your mother and your sister?

Zinedine Zidane: Yes. They were very hard words. You hear them once and you try to move away.

But then you hear them twice, and then a third time... I am a man and some words are harder to hear than actions. I would rather have taken a blow to the face than hear that.

Interviewer: He said these things about your mother and sister two or three times?

Zinedine Zidane: Yes. I reacted and of course it is not a gesture you should do. I must say that strongly.

It was seen by two or three billion people watching on television and millions and millions of children.

It was an inexcusable gesture and to them, and the people in education whose job it is to show children what they should and shouldn't do, I want to apologise.

Interviewer: You apologise to them but do you really regret having done it?

Zinedine Zidane: I can't regret it because if I do it would be like admitting that he was right to say all that. And above all, it was not right.

We always talk about the reaction, and inevitably it must be punished. But if there is no provocation, there is no reaction.

First of all you have to say there is provocation, and the guilty one is the one who does the provoking. The response is to always punish the reaction, but if I react, something has happened.

Do you imagine that in a World Cup final like that, with just 10 minutes to go to the end of my career, I am going to do something like that because it gives me pleasure?

Interviewer: No of course not. But at the moment you exploded...

Zinedine Zidane: There was provocation, and it was very serious, that is all. My action was inexcusable but you have to punish the real culprit, and the real culprit is the one who provoked it. Voila.

Well done Zidane! Materazzi deserve the headbutt! But that headbutt sure has the potential to shack off the Best Player title from Zidane... *awwhh*... Nevermind, I'm sure Zidane will still remain as the Best Player in Fifa Tournament in everyone's heart! The headbutt and the red card will not change that at all!

(Gosh, I become Zidane's No.1 fan already... haha)

Badminton at Stapok

From left: Pang, Kelvin, Herman, Esmond

Who was there:
Bing Han
Chio Pang
Esmond (St Jo Friend; same Add Maths tuition at Mr Lim's house)
Herman (St Jo Friend; same Add Maths tuition at Mr Lim's house)
Kelvin (St Jo Friend; same Add Maths tuition at Mr Lim's house)
Pang's INTian Friend

Went Stapok Badminton Court around 1000. They already started when I reach there. Hehe. Late again~~~ Hehe. Have my own reason for being late. Need to help daddy to settle few things before can go there mar...

Played double with Kelvin and Pang's INTian Friend where I partner with ChioPang. Ha, Kelvin is too good in badminton. His level is far beyond all of us there. You can "sense" the style he play is just like those SBA players, like my brother's (Though I never say good word in front of him, but really, I really admire the way he play.). Pang and I win the game because Pang's friend keep on making mistake. Hehe. Actually I also made a lot of mistake, the ball just keep on hitting the net when I service... Can't control well =.='

When I was resting at the side, a man from the court beside approach and asked for a 8-score game. I agreed without hesitate. Hehe, don't really like double because one need to have fast reflexes (at least faster than single) and I'm happen to be the slow-type, 反应迟钝-type. Ya, I know my self, my weakness. Hehe. Anyway, the 30+ year old man forced me to run here and there across the court. Haha, so long did not have this kind of sensation. Really enjoyed myself although it's tiring. =) *WeeEEeeEEee* (I win 8 to 4. Hehe)

Went back around 1200. YuXuan came to pick me up.

**Ohya, did not Esmond can be siaw-siaw like what Pang described. Haha. He looks very guai-guai type leh... Looks can be deceiving! =p Haha.

*^ ^*

Hmm, the man that asked me to play with him actually went Stapok there with his wife (impossible to be his girlfriend only lar... both of them kinda very "adult" liaw leh... haha). After the match with me, he play with his wife. Hmm, so 温馨 ('warm'? donno the word in English)... makes me think of what I was "looking forward to" back in Form3... Thinking of going out with HER to play badminton in the weekend if we are together. Ha. Don't know why I have such thought back then. Funny~
