The lost civilization - Friendster
Internet Archaeologists Find Ruins Of 'Friendster' Civilization
This video reminds me of the news of MOL (a Malaysian Payment Company) purchasing Friendster that I heard when I went back Malaysia earlier this month. I wonder why MOL decided to acquire 100% of the "ancient" social network earlier this month when its obvious that everyone has shifted to Facebook.
Hope MOL have a really good plan for that, else will be just wasting money to try to prolong something on the verge of death.

First down
Ah, did badly for my Semicon paper. Just because of mistakes of substituting wrong value to the equation for the calculation part of 2 out of 3 questions, I wasted almost 45 minutes on struggling trying to figure out what when wrong for those calculation.
Feel that I always screw things up at the end... haih...
Two more papers to go. 1 more project report to rush (which is considered as the "final paper").
Officially into exam mode. I must not screw-up my CS3220! Did so well for Mid-term, Assignments, and Tutorial... If I get B again, then must be final... CANNOT CANNOT!!!
The other paper is PC3247... didn't expect much, just a pass and I will be very very satisfied.
Okay, time to rush my CS4273 report again. Hope I can get really good grade for this. Pass Assessments got "near top" marks... Must complete and perfect the last part - report!

"Enable" Blogger Flash links
Found the links that explain the security changes for Flash 8 and above.
In Flash Player 8, the default for an unspecified allowScriptAccess value remains "always" when the main SWF in Flash Player is version 7 or earlier, but changes to "sameDomain" when the main SWF is version 8 or later.
The allowScriptAccess parameter allows an HTML page to include Flash content but prevents it from executing scripts in the HTML page...
Technical details explained here http://tr.im/D79G.
SOLUTION
For <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain">, change the "sameDomain" to "always".
done!

Google Chrome Lag Solved
Its described in Microsoft KB Article 929868.

- Type the following and press ENTER
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted
This will set the autotuninglevel to "Allow the receive window to grow beyond its default value, but do so very conservatively".
Reboot.

Change Firefox Address Bar Search Engine
If you want to restore the Google "I'm Lucky" search then perform this simple steps:
1. Type about:config in Firefox location bar and press Enter
2. Type keyword in Filter textbox and you will see only the preference keyword.URL.
3. Double-click on keyword.URL and change the value to:
http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&q=
or, if you don't wish to go to the first suggested link by Google
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&q=
That's all it takes to restore default keyword search functionality in Google.
Note: You can use this to change to any search engine for keyword search.

Imperial Restaurant
The food there is indeed good, and its not expensive either. What I like most is the prawn noodle and the egg tart.
Just one thing that I must comment about - The collocation of items in the restaurant. The restaurant name suggested its Chinese cuisine. Nothing wrong with that. But the chairs inside... its so state-of-the-art/modern cushion design. And the menu - its angmoh-model-wearing-cheongsam-eating-chinese-food. Well, just feel the whole atmosphere is weird. =)

After that we went to Mei Heong Yuen Dessert (味香园甜品) which situated just a few stone throw away for dessert. Wah, the ice-cream dessert there very nice, especially durian flavour. I like durian! =)
Heard about the shop before this, especially reviews from blogs - a must-try shop for Chinatown area. But, I haven't been to this shop until now. The signature dishes there are "Mango Sago with Pomelo" (杨枝甘露), "Peanut Paste" (花生糊).
The address: 65 Temple Street, 058610 Sg.

FYF Meeting
Fatt was elected as the Command IC. I'm sure he will do a good job. He has plans on his mind, and prepared to take up the job.
For me, I'm not sure what lies ahead... I foresee its gonna be "the road not taken" - two roads diverged in a yellow wood...
See how things go...

There are two way to see command.
1. A dream/target for residence to strive for, till final years.
2. A happy-and-sad event where everyone come together reminiscence the hardship they've been thru or friendship they've forged throughout the stay in KR.

Tired?
I wonder will I be infected?
Maybe not, cause I feel tired/sleepy all the time. Or supposedly, I'm already adapted to this microb.
A lot of things in hand, but I just keep on procrastinating... and do other things that i'm not suppose to do at this point of time... IBG, website, talking, watching movie...
Haih... can't concentrate in class also today. I keep on dozing off in both lectures today. Unforgivable!

Okay, should stop giving myself all those excuses. And, its time to prepare for tomorrow's TA material.
I need to keep reminding myself: "My biggest enemy is TIME!"

Samsung Omnia 2 review
Samsung Omnia 2 pros:
- Full touchscreen with 3.7″ AMOLED display.
- HSUPA 5.76Mbps, HSDPA 7.2Mbps and WiFi 802.11 b/g capabilities
- Storage of up to 48GB.
- 800MHz CPU.
Samsung Omnia 2 weakness:
- Can't send Contact Cards via SMS.
- Can' send SMS to numbers that are NOT in "mobile phone" field, and can only set 1 mobile number per contact.
- Non-mobile numbers can receive SMS nowadays.
- Most people have multiple cell phones nowadays.
- Non-mobile numbers can receive SMS nowadays.
- Very weak GPS receiver.
But I guess some of these (weakness 1 & 2) can be resolve by upgrade/updating the software.
Whats on my mind
I just want to have something nice to see when I come back next time, and proud to say that I'm part of it last time.
At least I'm relieve now, preparing to move on, to another stage - the lao lang stage.
Just few more things to confirm. Like what Weliam said, "Only when you know it is in good hands".

20090814 Dinner at Marutama Ra-Men
Went Marutama Ra-Men (The Central @ Clarke Quay) for dinner with Jiawei, Tina, Cindy and Cindy's Friend.
Ordered Marutama Ramen (Spicy). Wah, guess my cough is still 'going strong'. Just 1 sip of the soup makes cough terribly. But the noodle is 'okay'. The type of the noodle reminds me of "kolo mee" back in home town. Miss the noodle very much. So gonna have a fest on "kolo mee" when I go back (still don't know when at the moment).
After that, we went walk-walk along Clarke Quay river, watch bungy thingy, then go back. Nothing interesting there along Clarke Quay. Just a lot of ang moh and clubs too! The only thing I find amusing is the "Clinic Club" and the G-Max Reverse Bungy.

KR RAG
Year 0 - KRonos
Mechanism controller for cylinder
The float that inspires a lot of Raggers and Floaters, including me of course.
I spent most of my orientation at dinning hall, helping out, with the intention to be the first few freshman to see this so called "float" structure. Finally I was chosen as one of the helper for the main mechanism, along with weliam. My first impression of KRonos - precision structure, with insanely intricate cladding!
Still remember on RAG Day 2006 itself, before entering presentation area, Boon Sern, the CE for KRonos, shout from the cylinder of KRonos - "Even the pulley break, we will not break!". In presentation box, witnessing that pair of wings that spread out of the float body (cylinder), I told myself that RAG will definitely be part of my Hall Life for the coming few years.
Year 1 - Flight
Assistant Chief Enginner
First attempt in building something out of nothing. A lot happened throughout the whole 3 months. Sweet, bitter, joy, disappointment; witnessing how people changed for better, for worse. RAG its not as simple as I thought.
Lack of proper preparation, inexperience team, on week six, I knew the whole team were marching towards a pit of fire. On RAG day itself, its disheartening to hear our neighbour, SH, swept almost all the awards. But, what make me burst into tears is when I pass by EH's dancer's resting area, the dancers ran in front of me make fun of me.
Nevertheless, Flight is the reason for I continue on, to catch up with my dream, to correct the mistakes I've made.
Year 2 - KRhome
Float Engineer
Things were much better this year, Weliam, ZY, Jeff, and I know what we want to focus on this time round. We started off early, identified the winning formula, and worked hard during the whole 3 months, even to the extend burning our Sunday rest time. On RAG Day itself, we won big. To be frank, I knew there will be one big winner when our float arrive at SRC, its either us, or EH. I was so worried, until the first award was announced :)
Year 3 - KRavings
Helper
Involved in the early stage brainstorming. Its really a different experience as an "advisor" I would say. I tried as much as possible not to provide any input, and let the idea flow within raggers themselves.

Guide for accounts that got hacked
Re: Contact list / email hijacking
Thanks for the headers JackFrost. Upon checking it, I've verified that the message was sent from your account. Since you didn't send this message yourself, I strongly suggest that you immediately make your account more secure. Here are some tips:
1. Change your password as well as your secret question and answer regularly. To make a strong password, check out this Solution article:
http://windowslivehelp.com/solutions/supportmgr/archive/2009/04/08/please-enter-your-password-more-than-a-passing-decision.aspx
2. Properly log out of your account after your Windows Live Hotmail session by clicking the "Sign Out" button.
3. If you're using a public terminal, clear your temporary Internet files (cache) and close the browser that you're using when you're ready to end your Internet session.
4. Don't share your password to anyone even if they claim that they are persons of authority. Windows Live Hotmail disclaims all attempts to gather account information from you via phone or e-mail.
5. Be sure not to click "Remember my password" at the Windows Live Hotmail Sign-in page if you're using a public computer or if there are other people using your computer.
I also recommend that you visit the page that Anette has provided to you for more ways on how to secure your account and your computer.
