Confused

"If you are still not sure what you want to study or where you want to go, then go Form 6"

Usually, people will say that to you after you finish Form 5. For me, after 2 years of Form 6, I'm still don't know what I really want.

Study in Local University? Or NUS? Or Private Universities?

Well, KheeHan came just now. After he submitted his SOLAR Form, we discussed about that topic. At first, he said his decision is 40-60, as in Local Universities to NUS. But after a while, he changed his mind, changed to 50-50 again. Ha.

Study in NUS? There are 2 major problem.
1. Financial
Compare to NUS, Local Universities are far cheaper. And, I don't want to become another burden for my parents as they need to support both my sister and brother already. Sigh.
2. Standard
Hmm, for sure, people there are elite from countries around. Frankly, I not clever type person and I'm really 'kia su' to become dead-last. Top students here become average students there; Average students here become...? Not yet start already chicken out? Haha. And, most people there are banana. Not sure can communicate with my broken/vocab-not-enuf-use English or not. Haha.

Study in Local Universities?
1. Job future for IT graduates are not that 'bright', which means its more 'secure' if the Universities Application result is my first 4 choices: Microelectronics UTM/UKM, Telecommunication UTM/UKM. Here comes another problem, I'm not sure to what extent my colour blind problem (I'm not VERY serious, as in black-and-white colour blind arr...) will affect me for these courses.

Study in Private Universities?
1. [Just like above] Not sure to what extent my colour blind problem will become obstacles to me.
2. Graduates from Private Universities like Petronas and MMU will have limited job opportunities since they are not widely recognize compare to Local Universities. Besides it will be difficult to find job in other companies if got 'fired' by them.

Sigh. Wait till 19th June then only decide! Will it be a bit late to make decision by then? I don't know. Thinking of going for 'test drive' in Local Universities first in July, then only decide. Since NUS semester only starts in Aug.

  1. well, NUS is well-known uni, good future prospect, try to get scholarship or sponsorship. is not a burden to parents, after u graduate, guarantee u have job but with borned lah to pay back.
option 2, for local uni (government), u always can't go on ur way for ur favourite subject. But no harm to get a try! form 6 sounds bit wasting time, if u want to try can do one! another option is get pre-u program like A-level, CPU, SAM ,etc. do u have confidence that u can score very well in STPM?
for local uni semi private one, u have spend more $$, if private college associate with foreign uni of coz more pricey loh..u think about it. lots of constraints b4 u move ur next step. Good luck!

  3. Hi BingHan,

Studies and getting a job sometimes could be 2 different matters.

Try not to make thing complicated, then you can solve ur problem easier. =)

Go ahead and gain the knowledge as much as you can when you are studying, that is the most important issue.
